Relax at our Spa and pools, stay connected with state-of-the-art business services, or take a step back in time – more than 3,000 years of ancient civilization are at your fingertips.The Commercial Director is responsible for driving the hotel’s overall commercial performance by leading sales, marketing, revenue management, and related functions. The role ensures that strategic commercial initiatives maximize revenue across all business units—Rooms, F&B, Spa, and other outlets—while maintaining strong brand identity. The Commercial Director provides strategic leadership, develops revenue‑generating strategies, manages budgets, and oversees the execution of commercial plans to support the hotel’s long‑term growth and market positioning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
LEADERSHIP
Build, lead, coach, train and develop a strong team withthe assistance of the Director of Sales and Director ofCatering / Events / Conference Services, incorporatingexisting talent and recruiting new team members where necessary. Balance the specific needs of sales and marketing staff by building a positive and creative work environment. Build trust and confidence with stakeholders:Ownership, Home Office (Area or Regional DOHM,Marketing Leadership Team, RVP), PC and hotel team. In conjunction with the General Manager provide direction on pricing, Revenue Management (RM), MarCom, Rooms and Catering sales strategy and tactics.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Develop a dynamic and open communication process between all parties to ensure that all activities and bookings are focused to yield maximum revenue peroccupied room.
Actively participate in regular General Manager and Planning Committee meetings to drive hotel revenue generating plans. Engage in all forecast meetings and ensure effective communication with all sales support system (such as corporate commercial teams and worldwide sales offices).
Include GM, DOF, DOS, DOC/CS and Reservations Manager in weekly Revenue meetings with DORM or SRM
MAXIMIZE HOTEL REVENUE
Understand the different needs of market segments and implement strategies/programs as appropriate to maximize revenue generation and profitability.
Revenue management logistics.
Revenue management accountability.
MARKETING
Develop and implement the Annual Marketing Plan and budget process.
Analyse the property’s capabilities and identify the direct sales, advertising, and public relations programs necessary to attract targeted sources of business.
Develop marketing programs consistent with Four Seasons style and positioning, ensuring compliance with brand policies and guidelines.
In conjunction with Director of Sales, identify sources of business available to the hotel and establish priority marketing
Review and monitor competitive hotels to ensure product and service offerings position property for competitive advantage.
Manage hotel presence and content across all communication channels, both brand and third party platforms. In conjunction with Hotel Marketing.
Understand the difference between marketing initiatives and an integrated marketing campaign as well as when to execute which with a focus on measurement via KPIs/ ROI
Manage SEO, PPC, direct marketing, partnership and other advertising budgets and opportunities.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
Develop Public Relations Strategy and oversee updates and execution in conjunction with PRD; agency or corporate PR support
Craft Social Media strategy and distribution outlets with PR Director.
Develop the Sales and Marketing (S&M) budget in conjunction with the Annual Marketing Plan and Minimum Operating Standards.
SALES
Provide "Two up" sales assistance for all key accounts, where relevant and participate in deployment decisions and yield decisions as appropriate.
Ensure fluid communication with WSOs regarding market changes, business needs and priorities.
Establish goals and monitor performance to meet property revenue objectives.
Review the performance of each sales person and approve quarterly and annual incentive results.
Develop and maintain a succession plan for management positions in Sales, Catering, Public Relations and Revenue Management.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Education: (4) year college/university degree (or equivalent).
Experience: Previous experience as a DOS or Sales Manager in a Hotel or Resort
