The Role of the Versailles Temp Front Waiter
The Versailles Temporary Front Waiter is responsible for coordinating the entire assigned station and maintaining clear, effective communication with both front-of-house and back-of-house staff to deliver a dining experience that exceeds guest expectations. This role includes greeting and seating guests promptly to maximize seat turnover, accurately processing guest orders, and ensuring all menu items are prepared correctly and delivered in a timely manner. The Front Waiter also supervises adherence to service and operational standards, maintains strict discipline, and promptly reports any policy violations or service infractions to the Restaurant Manager.
Key Functions
Inspect the restaurant and take appropriate action on all matters not meeting standards prior to service.
Check tables, side stands, equipment and supplies to ensure everything is in order.
Possess detailed knowledge of all food and beverage menus.
Supervise, generally, the timelines of service in keeping with established standards and ensures the service staff gives prompt and courteous service at all times.
Greet and welcome guests with a smile.
Inform guest of menu specials and menu changes, make suggestions and answer questions regarding food, beverages and service.
Take beverage, food and wine orders promptly and courteously and submit to waiter.
Set up all tables as required by restaurant standard prior to and during service. Ensure that all service utensils, silverware and dishware are clean and free of cracks, chips, fingerprints and food remains.
Complete all pre-shift side work, ensuring that side stands are fully stocked and cleaned.
Monitor assigned station throughout service, observing and seeing to guest needs.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout shift.
Check periodically with guest during meal to ensure complete satisfaction of food, wine and beverage service.
Check guests at least twice during meal for satisfaction.
Handle guest complaints immediately and politely, assist and advise manager of all incidents.
Adhere to all sequence of service and standards.
Verify accuracy of guest check, including content, pricing, machine verification and check presented.
Carry food items in proper manner so that spillage and accidents are at a minimum.
Present check after entire meal is completed and guest satisfaction is acknowledged.
Total bills and accept payment or refer guest to cashier or hostess, as appropriate.
Inspect stations, side stands service areas and stores at conclusion of shift to ensure that they are ready for the next meal.
Assist bus persons with stocking work stations, removing and resetting soiled dishes and silverware from table at end of each meal, and cleaning and resetting vacant tables. Carry soiled dishes from all side stands at regular intervals to kitchen.
Have a thorough knowledge of hotel facilities.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by manager to ensure the efficient operation of the restaurant.
